CHOIR NOTES
It will not be long until we will have revival services with David Crain.  Although I only attended one service when he was here several years ago, I am excited about hearing him again and getting to know him better.  I hope you are already making plans to attend every service you possibly can during these days of renewal and refreshing  --  February 25 – 28.

This year we will have a revival choir for most of the services. So, I am
inviting all youth and adults to join us for the
“one and only” revival choir rehearsal, which will be held on Wednesday, February 21, at 7:30 p.m., in the choir room.  Having the rehearsal before the
revival starts will allow us all to participate in pre-service activities (eating) without having to rush.

The choir will open the revival services on Sunday morning, as well as Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings.  We’ll meet 10 minutes before each service to refresh our memories, sing in the service, then go sit with family and/or friends.  There’s not much time commitment involved, so why not come sing with us?  We’d love to have you!

EDUCATION MINISTRY
Discipleship is what Bible study is about, and as such that makes our Bible study leaders some of the most important leaders in the church.  As Ephesians 4:12-13 reminds us, preaching and teaching exist “for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to unity of the faith and to the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure and stature of the fullness of Christ.” (NKJV)
If CBC’s education ministry is to glorify God and be a part of His great commission,  I need your input regarding the direction of the education ministry.  Through the teacher’s meetings you will have opportunities to strengthen your skills and abilities in order to fulfill your calling as a Sunday School teacher.  Therefore, I would like all adult Bible study leaders to plan to attend the February Bible Study Leaders meeting.  It will be a lunch meeting following church, on Sunday, February 18, 2007.
Last but not least, if there is anyone interested in being a part of the education ministry of CBC, I would like to invite you to come to this meeting, or to just give me a call so that we can find your place of service.    See you all on the 18th!    Christ’s love,    Carol Lindquist, Minister of Education

For Men & Women

The Sychar Connection
-
During this three week study Pastor Jack will guide us through John chapter 4 and the infamous "woman at the well" dialogue with Christ. John paints for us through his words the often forgotten humanity of Christ, as he speaks of Jesus being weary, thirsty and hungry. It is here that we discover the Sychar Connection of Jesus with all humanity. Beginning February 11,  sanctuary, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Led by Pastor Jack Willoughby

Maturity 201 -
This class is the second of CBCs four basic classes.  Since these classes build on each other, you must first attend Discovering Church Membership #101 before taking this class. We will focus on the Four Basic Habits every Christian needs to develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity.  This class will ... ·  Equip you with the skills you need to begin  these habits ·  Explain the tools you need to continue these habits.  3 sessions beg. Mar. 4, 2007 Led by Carol Lindquist
For Men ONLY
Authentic Manhood...Winning at Work & Home -
Challenging men to step   forward, meet their   responsibilities, and   establish their manhood,   Authentic Manhood,   Winning at Work & Home   focuses on the chief responsibilities men have--as husbands, fathers, and breadwinners. The study presents 2 mirrors to help men evaluate how they are doing in life: the  mirror of work and career, and the mirror of home and family. Participants will evaluate chief responsibilities of how a man successfully relates to a woman and how a man rightly engages in his work. Here is a plan for leading men to win in life by helping them understand and undertake the challenges of both career and family. 7 Sessions beginning January 7, 2007 Led by Scott Vaughan
For Women ONLY

Fruit of the Spirit - This innovative study combines thought-provoking devotions on the Fruits of the Spirit with scrapbook activities.  As found in Galatians 5:23, participants will focus on love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  The wondrous ways God is growing his children toward maturity are dramatically revealed!  It's Bible study that's fun, fulfilling, and faith-building!  Each lesson and activity fosters deeper relationships with God (and others in the group) and inspires continual growth!  Lessons, templates and sample pages are all included! Cost—$20.00—pre-order book by Feb. 18th 10 sessions beg. March 11, 2007 Led by Terri Jones

THAT SIDE OF MID-LIFE
Brace yourself for what I’m about to tell you.  The following information may not be suitable for the young or faint of heart.  Prepare yourself.  Here it is.   I’m in my ‘mid-life’ years.
No one is more shocked by this than I am.  I went to bed one night as a young adult and woke up the next day as an old dude.

Determining the exact age of ‘mid-life’ is based on the average life span of men, about 72 years, divided by two.  O my!  I just realized that mid-life for me actually began some years ago.  I’m further past the other side of the hill than I thought.

The older I am the faster it goes.  And, boy, is it ever zooming by.
No wonder Paul encouraged us to make the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:16).
Fortunately for me, I have been a Christian most of my life – some 31 years now; to which I must stop and shout, “Praise the Lord!”
Yet, as I embrace that side of mid-life, I sadly report that one of my constant prayers has not been realized.  I desperately desire to see our nation experience a move of God, but it has not happened.

During the first half of my life, I have witnessed moral decay, more than anything else.  The evidence is everywhere.  Read it in the newspaper.  See it on the television.  Hear it in the brokenness of people’s lives.  Notice it in the emptiness of church pews.
As the date of our Revival nears, my passion for personal and corporate revival flames up.  I wonder to myself, “Could this be our time?  Could it be that God intends to awaken our nation, and the epicenter of His activity is Calallen Baptist Church?”

Truly, only God knows.  But I would like to think that I, and you, did our best by doing the following: 1).  Rediscover the
ER of prayER.  Prayer changes things.  As we pray for others, and ourselves, it is like being ushered into a spiritual emergency room for immediate attention.
2).  Expect in
HIMactivity.  God wants to pour out his blessings.  He wants his church empowered.  He wants souls to be saved. 3).  Work hard.  We have to commit ourselves to the task of preparation.  Plan to attend.  Plan to invite.  Plan to serve.

On this side of mid-life I determine now, more than ever, to make my life count for now and eternity.    On the Best Side of Life,
Pastor Jack
