About Calallen Baptist...

OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT  | OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH  | OUR AFFILIATION

OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of our church is summarized in a single sentence:

God's family UNITING to, (Fellowship)

Reach others in NEED, (Ministry)

Actively MATURING in God's Spirit, (Discipleship)

Committed to SHARING Christ, and (Missions/Evangelism)

EXALTING the name of Jesus (Worship)

CBC is a purpose-driven church. We have discovered our biblically based reason for being which has helped us to develop a strategy for reaching, teaching, equipping, ministering, and worshiping. As we move forward to achieve our Purpose Driven strategy we will EXPERIENCE the ABUNDANT life in Christ.   Back to Top.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

The basis for our beliefs is the Holy Bible as the inspired word of God. CBC subscribes to the doctrinal statement of "The Baptist Faith and Message" as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 1963.

The Bible

bullet

We believe that the bible is the Word of God, divinely inspired; that it contains no errors in the original manuscripts and preserved by God for us; that is authoritative for this church and each of us for every age.

God

bullet

We believe that God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God.

bullet

We believe God created the universe by His power and word.

bullet

We believe that God is all knowing, all-powerful and ever present.

Jesus

bullet

We believe Jesus Christ was sent by God the Father into the world to save sinners.

bullet

We believe that Jesus Christ was virgin born, sinless in life and mighty in words and deeds.

bullet

We believe Jesus was both God and man that He was crucified for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead. He then ascended to His Father's side where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers.

bullet

We believe Jesus Christ is coming again personally, visibly and bodily to reign as Lord.

Holy Spirit

bullet

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person, is God, and has all the divine characteristics. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals them at the moment of salvation. He fills them in response to confession of sin and surrender to Him.

Salvation

bullet

We believe that Jesus, through His death on the cross, provided salvation for all. However, to receive salvation one must repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ alone. The true believer is eternally secure and cannot lose his salvation. He may, however, lose his joy by sin and bring the loving discipline of the Father upon himself.

bullet

All who have received Christ will at death depart to be with Christ in their spirits and at Christ's return receive a new body that will be like His glorious body.

The Church

bullet

We believe a New Testament church is a local body of baptized believers who has agreed together to worship Jesus Christ, edify the believers, evangelize the lost and minister to others.

bullet

The church has two ordinances: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
bullet

Baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new life we have in Him.

bullet

The Lord's Supper is a reminder of Christ's death and anticipates His Second Coming.    Back to Top.

Our Affiliation in Giving to Missions

Calallen Baptist Church participates in the largest missionary organization in the world. Through the Southern Baptist Convention "cooperative program" we help support over 7,500 missionaries in 100 plus countries. We are a member of the family of churches in the SBC, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and the Corpus Christi Baptist Association. We choose to affiliate with these groups, because of their missions emphasis. We believe it is important to cooperate and fellowship with other churches for our benefit and to benefit them. Our church, however, is self-governed and determines its own affairs. There is no denominational control or hierarchy that makes decisions for us.
